Saturday Hike

Keith and I went hiking with a friend yesterday. A gorgeous spring day, temps in the 70s, and plenty of sunshine. We headed out early for our hike up Mount Sanitas. Nothing is blooming just yet but we found a few photo ops.
A perfectly ducky day

Saturday was predicted to be 75, followed by snow on Sunday. So we decided to take the new camera on an outing that turned out to be a trip up to Evergreen with a hike around the lake. We saw quite a bit of wildlife, including ducks enjoying the thaw, a family of deer, and a bison herd. We had a nice hike around the lake and enjoyed watching the ice fishing –I am looking forward to spring .

Saturday Sky from the Alpaca Ranch

Today was National Alpaca Day, Keith and I went to Elizabeth, CO to visit Falkor Ranch. We spent the better part of the afternoon learning about the workings of an alpaca ranch, and hanging out with some very sweet alpacas. Tom and Diane were fantastic hosts and the alpacas are certain charmers. The pictures—A tentative Cria, the boys and girls meet by the fence, checking out my camera, checking each other out, mom and baby, wanting to go out to pasture, snack time, and a nice farm picture on our way back home.

Is it considered gardening if it is inside the house? Keith and I ran errands today and the first stop was the 15th birthday celebration at my LYS(translation 15% off everything), a quick breakfast at the bagel shop around the corner and then off to the home improvement stores. After the wonderful and aromatic breads last weekend, I thought it might be a good idea to pick up a few herbs for the kitchen. We found two pretty good size rosemary bushes and a six-pack of thyme. I even re potted them after dinner. The moon rise was lovely as was our veggies!
Saturday Sky…the thunder rolls

We headed out early today for breakfast and then ran a few errands that including picking up some much needed bookcases for the boxes of still packed books in the basement. I have to fess up that we haven't spent a whole lot of time unpacking the basement after the furry of unpacking the rest of the house. Keith got right to work on assembly and I worked on unpacking some of the boxes. I don't know if this is there final location, we might put them on the opposite wall (currently where the boxes of books are stacked).
We had a beautiful and comparably mild day (mid 80s) and then the thunder clouds rolled in. I snapped this just as the rain started.
We had a simple supper of Italian Sausage subs, baked beans and I made a quick avocado and tomato salad.
