Jet Lag

Saturday morning I was up well before dawn….I am still recovering from the 7 hr time change.  I  made a cup of hot chocolate, popped in a movie,  and settled in with a UFO from last winter.  Somewhere in the bustle of the move this lovely project got stashed away.  It is Gathering Intentions from Inspired Cable Knits,  I am using worsted weight malabrigo yarn in a natural color.  So far the only modification I have made is to knit the body in the round.  I love this yarn and once you get going the pattern is lots of fun.Img_3409  Img_3410

Irish Sky

I spent this week in Ireland and as usual the weather was spectacular.  I'm not sure what it is but it never rains more than one of the days while I am visiting.  It was a quick trip but good and I always enjoy an authentic Guinness :)  I caught the sunset one evening on our way to dinner and then a fleeting glimse of Irish_sky_2 Irish wool in its first stages on my Irish_sky_1 way to the airport.Sheep

First Snow

The first snow fell today and I wasn't able to fully enjoy it as I was headed to the airport.  Those early snows always make me want to make a batch of hot chocolate,  some soup and snuggle in by the fire.Img_3357 Img_3364

Mom brought us a fantastic housewarming present….lots of fun grains and flour to experiment with.  Can you believe she stashed all this wonderful goodness in her suitcase?  I am looking forward to baking with it and Keith is looking forward to the sampling 🙂 Img_3340

Surprise knitting…

We had another birthday visitor…my mom arrived Thursday morning for the Img_3290r_2 weekend.  I picked her up at the airport and we were off to the outlet shops in Castle Rock for some shopping.  I managed to pick up a few fall items at a big discount.  On our way back we saw a wolf just coming out of a field (of course I didn't have my camera) and then we had a nice dinner out.  Friday morning Mom and I tried out  a local bakery for breakfast,  stopped by the LYS to pick up my gift certificate (my name was drawn during the 15th anniversary celebration) and then we picked up Keith from work and took a lovely drive up to Estes Park and The Stanley Hotel.  My great grandfatherImg_3297r worked at the hotel years ago and met my great grandmother there.  WImg_3288_2 e walked the grounds, the loImg_3277 bby area and the music room.

Mom had Img_3279 mentioned that with moving north earlier this year that she would like a scarf.  Remember this alpaca yarn?  It became my so called scarf for Mom.  Img_3292r

Mom asked if Keith would take her out on the motorcycle,  so they went for a ride Saturday afternoon before the rain started and then celebrated with a toast.Img_3312

And for the record I did make a carrot cake with cream cheese icing bImg_3335ut it disappeared before I thought to take a picture.Img_3322 Img_3310r
