Quilty Weekend

Saturday Becky and I went down to Fabric Bliss to check out the Front Range Modern Quilt Guild Meeting. This was my first guild meeting and I really enjoyed it. It was great to see what others are working on and hear about the upcoming swaps and challenges.  I left my camera home with Keith but Amy has some great pictures on her blog here.  Sunday I was out picking up some extra fabric for Julie’s spectacular fishy quilt and decided to stop by Tomorrow’s Heirlooms and say hello to Jackie.  Suffice it to say I pulled up just after the police cruiser.  and just before the fire truck and ambulance.  There was an unfortuante accident with a rotary blade,  but everyone was fine in the end.  Just a bit shaken up.  I was just stopping by to chat and pick up some fun food fabric (a post for another day).

Special Delivery

I have been working on a very special quilt these past few weeks.  My amazing grandmother is celebrating a very special birthday this year.  She is so special in so many ways and has taught me many things over the years.  I remember all the fabulous things she made for me as I was growing up including the Christmas stocking that I still use and cherish every year.  I wanted to make her a quilt.  I wanted it to be cheerful and cozy (she lives where it is rather cold).  I hope I achieved that and that she enjoys it half as much as I enjoyed making it for her.   Riley loves to help,  she worked with me on arranging the blocks on the design wall and of course wanted to help with the photography.  This is Riley and her great grandma from last year.

Riley and I left Keith home this morning to move his office downstairs (much easier without an audience) and we headed off to the Horseshoe Market with Michelle.  Craftiness abounds,  lots of fun!

Shop Hoppin’

This afternoon  Becky and I embarked on a Quilt Shop Hop…my first.  We visited six shops and traveled just over a 100 miles.  It was great to see some of the other shops in the extended area,  I was a bit disappointed at the lack of modern fabrics.  I see all these fabulous new fabrics online but there aren’t that many stores locally that carry them.  But a fun trip nonetheless!

Fabric Crawl

Julie and I set off to take in some of the local fabric sites.  First,  down to Fancy Tiger, then over to Fabric Bliss,  up to The Quilt Shop and then finished up over at Tomorrow’s Heirlooms.  Lots of fun and a few purchases! I have to admit I got a bit sidetracked after the first shop and forgot to take any more pictures 🙂

Confetti Quilt

With the move to a toddler bed, Riley needed a bit bigger everyday quilt.  This is what I came up with. She was so excited for me to finish this one up,  it was still a bit damp when she claimed it.  I think this might be one of my favorites so far.  I love the fabric, Delilah by Free Spirit and the pattern modified slightly is the Confetti Quilt.

I finished up the giant quilt last night.  I am pleased with how it turned out and am thrilled to have it done.  It is very hard to get a good picture but here are a few.  TopAnd even better Keith really likes it.  I hope he doesn't get any ideas about more quilts in this size. Top with back
