Special Delivery

I have been working on a very special quilt these past few weeks.  My amazing grandmother is celebrating a very special birthday this year.  She is so special in so many ways and has taught me many things over the years.  I remember all the fabulous things she made for me as I was growing up including the Christmas stocking that I still use and cherish every year.  I wanted to make her a quilt.  I wanted it to be cheerful and cozy (she lives where it is rather cold).  I hope I achieved that and that she enjoys it half as much as I enjoyed making it for her.   Riley loves to help,  she worked with me on arranging the blocks on the design wall and of course wanted to help with the photography.  This is Riley and her great grandma from last year.

Sunday Fun

We went for bagels this morning and then decided to spend a little time with the butterflies, and Rosy of course.  Check out the cute layer cake skirt I whipped up for Riley.

Birdie Dress

Julie has been uber patient with me and coaching me through an “easy” McCall’s pattern.  I did make it and Riley seems  enjoying the result.  I’m not sure I’ll be rushing right into a second one of these but I did learn a ton.  Julie also brought a surprise for Riley, this adorable apron all cut out and ready to sew.  She had this together in no time.  And managed to whip up a fabulous tutu one evening while I was working on the dress.  Riley is one very lucky girl and she loves her homemade goodness !

Fabric Crawl

Julie and I set off to take in some of the local fabric sites.  First,  down to Fancy Tiger, then over to Fabric Bliss,  up to The Quilt Shop and then finished up over at Tomorrow’s Heirlooms.  Lots of fun and a few purchases! I have to admit I got a bit sidetracked after the first shop and forgot to take any more pictures 🙂

Tune Up

My trusty sewing machine was due for her first check up.  I was fortunate to find a fabulous technician that makes house calls.  Julie also is a Bernina owner so we did a bit of brain picking while he tuned up my machine.  And we got some screen shots of her vital stats.

In an effort to save the diapers,  I made Polly some big girl bloomers.  So far it seems to have worked.  Here’s a cute shot of Riley pretending to feed her some yogurt.

Fun Day

We headed down to the zoo today with some friends and had a blast.  First time I have had 3 car seats in my truck.  It worked out quite nicely.Three in a row Monkeys in there Lunchtime

And someone was so tuckered out that I managed to get a blanket sewn up for a friend's new baby. I am loving how the turtles turned out.  Just a simple cotton print backed with minky and then I free motioned traced some of the turtles.
