Img_2676 It has been a tremendous knitting week.  I was back in the greater Boston area last week and had a great time with Img_2680_2 Julie, Debbi, Christine and Crystal.  I finished up the Twisted Flower socks; I am definitely  going to have to knit another pair in a solid color but I am pleased at how well these turned out.

Cozy has been in 'time out' for just about two years now and I Img_2654edited needed some moral support to rip back past my mistake(about a foot back).  I can't thank you ladies enough!!  I am also happy to reportImg_2661 that I have knitted back to this point without  a repeat of the mistake.  And last but not least I Img_2664 was able to meet Kristi for coffee, knitting, and a trip to the LYS this past Saturday.  A wonderful way to start the weekend!

Birthday Recap

Img_2685 We had a rather low key birthday celebration this Img_2666 past weekend once I got home.  Cupcakes were baked (carrot cake with cream cheese frosting). Img_2669 And the big 'surprise' was waiting for me when I got home.  But he looks so happy, don't you think?Img_2672_2

Img_2651 It has been one interesting week!  The coolest was that for the first time in three years we went on a business trip to the same place at the same time.  It was definitely different for both of us.  On Thursday I went by Knit This, Purl That and broke the yarn drought.  I picked up a few clearance balls of Rowan Wool Cotton in Inky and Gypsy, Lorna's Laces in Sweetie, and Rio de la Plata in Multicolor and a lovely purple silk project bag.  I had a bit of a blow out on my current sock project bag.

Being that we had some unexpected visitors that took up all of our attention at work this week and made for some very long days, (read 7 am -7 pm), not much knitting happened.  I will spare y'all another twisted flower picture.  I am ready to pick up the gusset and finish the second foot.  I am very ready to start on a new project,  preferably without a chart.Img_2647r_2

I couldn't pass up these beautiful and perfectly named blueberries on Friday!

Yesterday, we headed out for breakfast and errands,  but Img_2648 seeing as it was just in between breakfast and lunch time Img_2649 Keith went with a chicken pot pie and I had some blueberry pancakes.  This wasn't quite what he was expecting but it was delicious and I loved the presentation.

We headed out early today for breakfast and then ran a few errands that including picking up some much needed bookcases for the boxes of still packed books in the basement.  I have to fess up that we haven't spent a whole lot of time unpacking the basement after the furry of unpacking the rest of the house.  Keith got right to work on Img_2623 assembly and I worked on unpacking some of the boxes.  Img_2626   Img_2629   Img_2631    I don't know if this is there final location,  we might put them on the opposite wall (currently where the boxes of books are stacked).

We had a beautiful and comparably mild day (mid 80s) and then the thunder clouds rolled in.  I snapped this just as the rain started. Img_2633

Img_2637 We had a simple supper of Italian Sausage subs, baked beans and I made a quick avocado and tomato salad. Img_2638

Being new to the area we have been exploring (as time permits).  Last Saturday Keith and I went down to the Boulder Farmer's Market.  Being that we both had trips last week weImg_2573 only picked up some mushrooms.  Img_2603 They were just too pretty to pass up.  I decided to use them in a slightly modified Chicken Marsala recipe.  I think we were both pleasantly surprised with the result.

This week I met a friend (also a recent transplant) and checked out the Longmont Farmer's Market and came home with a sample of Red Onion Pasta from Pappardelle.  I'll have to let you know how that one turns out.

I was fortunate to get to go back to Boston this past week and knit at my old haunt with terrific friends.  I had finished up the first of the Twisted Flower socks and am just over a repeat through the second one.   Img_2589 PandaImg_2591 doesn't quite know what to make of posing for a picture.

And in the spirit of summer last weekend Keith made a classic favorite.  Root Beer Floats.Img_2584
