We had the pleasure of spending the day at the zoo friends. It is always lots of fun to see all our little girls together, even if it is nearly impossible to get their picture 🙂 We rounded out the morning with a ride on the carousel (Riley’s obsessed) and a fantastic picnic lunch.

We went for bagels this morning and then decided to spend a little time with the butterflies, and Rosy of course. Check out the cute layer cake skirt I whipped up for Riley.

Riley and I left Keith home this morning to move his office downstairs (much easier without an audience) and we headed off to the Horseshoe Market with Michelle. Craftiness abounds, lots of fun!
Birdie Dress

Julie has been uber patient with me and coaching me through an “easy” McCall’s pattern. I did make it and Riley seems enjoying the result. I’m not sure I’ll be rushing right into a second one of these but I did learn a ton. Julie also brought a surprise for Riley, this adorable apron all cut out and ready to sew. She had this together in no time. And managed to whip up a fabulous tutu one evening while I was working on the dress. Riley is one very lucky girl and she loves her homemade goodness !

Put me in the zoo pants

That’s what these pants remind me of, remember this book? Today was much cooler so we thought a trip to the zoo was in order. Riley had the unique opportunity to pet a baby alligator. I can’t even describe how excited she was. She was very concerned about the leopard falling off the swing while he was sleeping (so cute). Riley is so into riding the carousel and it was extra special fun with Julie. A great day all around 🙂

Sunday, we ventured down to the Denver County Fair. This was the first year for the fair and it was lots of fun. We were a pleasantly surprised that most of the exhibits were indoors. Riley especially enjoyed the animals, she desperately wanted the baby goats to sit in her lap. And what’s a fair without at least one ride?

As many times as we have gone to the Butterfly Pavillion, Riley has always admired Rosy, the tarantula. Several months ago Riley started ‘practicing’ holding Rosy using her stuffed animals. It has been really adorable to watch. The catch is that you to be 3 to hold Rosy, but a fantastic volunteer recognized her technique and made a bit of an exception today. She was beyond excited!
